Maple Syrup Awards

NORTH AMERICAN MAPLE PRODUCERS

 “Best in the World” 

All maple producers in North America are eligible to enter this contest. Every maple producer in the maple producing states in the USA and provinces of Canada are invited. There are 15-16 states and provinces represented. Maple producers can enter maple syrup, maple candy and maple cream. 

The entries are judged using the same criteria used in the Carlisle Trophy contest: density, clarity, flavor and presentation (packaging). There are three judges- one from Canada, one from the host state and one from the remaining states. Blind judging is used. Each entry has a number with no reference to the producer. After the judging is done the entry of each category with the highest score wins. 

In October of 2002 Fuller’s Sugarhouse was awarded 1^st place for our light amber maple syrup, 1^st place for our maple candy, 1^st place for our maple cream and was Judged Best Of Show for our light amber maple syrup.

CARLISLE TROPHY

The Carlisle Trophy is strictly a New Hampshire maple award and is presented to the maple producer whose entry is judged the best. 

To be eligible a maple producer must: 

1)      enter his (her) maple syrup in a New Hampshire Agriculture Fair and place in the top 3 positions, 

2)      attend the annual New Hampshire Maple Producers Association meeting and enter his (her) winning syrup for judging. The judges include a New Hampshire state inspector and two of his (her) peers. The entry is judged for density, clarity, flavor and presentation (packaging) with a perfect score of 100 points. Points are deducted for any discrepancies in each category and each score is added together for the total per entry. The entry with the highest score (the least discrepancies) wins the Carlisle Trophy.

as one of the top ten!
