Fullers Sugarhouse

Maple Grades

All maple syrup produced by Fuller’s sugarhouse is labeled and sold under the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) grading system for color and taste. The USDA uses descriptive terms for each grade to make it easier for you to understand the color and flavor of each grade.

The three grades of pure maple syrup are:

US Grade A Golden – Delicate Taste

Golden syrup is named after its color and is usually the first sap that flows during the sugaring season. This light flavor is commonly used by drizzling over pancakes and waffles or stirring into granola or a smoothie.

USDA Grade A Amber – Rich Taste

Amber syrup offers a full maple taste with medium intensity, making it a popular maple syrup choice! This syrup usually hits mid-season and has a smooth, well-rounded flavor. It’s great to use for baking, or stirring into coffee, tea, or cocktails!

USDA Grade A Dark – Robust Taste

Dark syrup offers an intense and complex maple flavor. Typically being made as the season progresses, this syrup brings a strong, bold flavor. Try adding to marinades and sauces for a sweet and smoky flavor.
