Maple Black Bean Burger

Ingredients

  • 15-oz Can Black Beans
  • 2 Medium Cloves of Garlic
  • 2 Green Onions, ends trimmed and chopped
  • 1/4 Cup Walnuts
  • 1/2 Cup Old Fashioned Rolled Oats
  • 1/2 Tsp Chili Powder
  • 1/2 Tsp Smoked Paprika
  • 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Red Wine Vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp Fuller's Pure Maple Syrup
  • 1 Tbsp Oil, for Cooking

Preparation

  1. Drain, rinse and pat dry black beans.
  2. Use a food processor to pulse garlic and scallions. Add in oats, walnuts, chili powder, smoked paprika, soy sauce, red wine vinegar, and Fuller’s pure maple syrup then process until mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
  3. Set aside ½ cup of the rinsed black beans. Add the rest of the black beans to the food processor and pulse until smooth. Mix in the remaining ½ cup of black beans then let rest for 5 minutes.
  4. Divide the mixture into fourths and form patties, pressing firmly as you shape.
  5. Cook on the grill at medium-low heat, approximately 4-6 minutes per side.
  6. Serve with your favorite burger toppings.
